| Outside painting has been completed except for touch-ups, and painting the inside of the blocks has begun, in various colours to define different zones. The installation of water, electricity and gas is proceeding and most of the windows are in place (as shown in the puppy-house, photo left). In the dogs’ house, doors leading from the covered area to the outside runs are being fitted. | |

| 31-08-2003. Painting exteriors | |
| Painting has begun on the exterior of the puppy house (photo left). All building exteriors will be painted in dark ivory to achieve a harmonious environment. The roof to the dogs’ house is already fully in place, except for finishing off the skylights. | |

| 10-08-2003. Tiling | |
| Inside partitions are already in place in the equipment block, and the future veterinary surgery, operating theatre and hospital wards are being tiled. The electrical installation is already underway, as shown in photo right, and lamps are being fitted in some blocks, such as those for adult quarantine where the daylight entering from the skylights in the roof can be clearly perceived. | |

| 12-07-2003. Finishing off the roofs | |
| In some buildings, such as the equipment block and the cats’ house shown in the photo, the roof is well advanced, whereas in the dogs’ quarters (photo right), the metal supports are being erected in the central module which will house a storage depot for dried dog food, the washing quarters and the volunteers’ canteen. | |

| Progress continues in putting up the roofs, as shown in this photo of the adult quarantine block. Ceramic flooring has also been laid in the puppy and cats’ houses. In the equipment block, work is going ahead on erecting the internal partitions (photo right). | |

| Outside walls and internal partitions are being completed in the dogs’ house (photo left), and roofs consisting of pre-coated galvanised steel sheet, thermal isolation and brown concrete roof tiles are being mounted in the other buildings. | While the building block walls of the dogs’ house are going up (photo left), the steel roof supports are being erected inside the other buildings. In the photo right, there is a view of the steel supports in place in the equipment block. In addition, floors have been laid in several buildings. | |

| 18-05-2003. Dogs’ house | |
| The outside walls to all the buildings have been completed with the exception of the dogs’ house, for which the foundations have been laid and filled with gravel (photo left). In the other buildings, floors are being prepared with the laying of a plastic sheet to prevent rising damp, and a steel mesh to be covered by a layer of cement. | |

| Following the laying of foundations and gravel infill, work has begun on building the walls of all the blocks. In the photo left, the adult quarantine block, with the outside wall already under construction, and in photo right, the equipment block with the perimeter walls already rising. Foundations for the dogs’ house have already been completed. | |

| Walls to retain the under-floor gravel infill for drainage have been completed in the adult dog quarantine block (photo left), stables, and puppy quarantine and cat houses. In the equipment block, where the floor has already been laid, the perimeter walls of building blocks are beginning to rise. |

| 1-04-2003. Foundations 2 | |
| The laying of foundations continues, very advanced in the stables and puppy quarantine blocks. Walls of concrete blocks are being built up to ground level above the concrete-filled trenches, and are topped up with gravel to protect the building from rising damp. Foundations for the dogs’ house are still in the initial phase. | |

| 8-03-2003. Foundations | |
| Foundations are being laid for all the buildings. Trenches have been dug to house steel armour and concrete. The photo shows progress in the puppy quarantine house. The water purifier has been fully completed, including the control hut. | |

| 16-02-2003. Purifying equipment | |
| A notice has been put up announcing the purpose of our works, and the names of the architects and the building company. The builders’ huts have been installed, together with the purifying equipment to treat sewage from the future Re-homing Centre. | |

 |
| 31-01-2003. Plotting out | |
| On 31 January, with the plotting out of the land, that is the transfer of the project from the plans to the building site, the works were officially inaugurated. The location and surface area of each building was staked out and outlined in chalk. |
