To adopt from ANAA, you must request an appointment using the form found on the profile of each listed animal.
What does adoption involve?
Great stories have personality. Consider telling a great story filled with personality. Writing a story with personality for potential clients will help you maintain relationships and connections. Use words or phrases that demonstrate this, and remember to write from your point of view, not from someone else's experience.
Great stories are for everyone, even if they were written for just one person. If you try to write it with a wide and general audience in mind, your story will sound fake and won't be exciting. No one will be interested. Write for one person. If it is genuine for one person, it will be for everyone else.
Adoption Process
Once the important decision to adopt one of ANAA's animals has been made, the interview phase and first contact with our animals begins. It is important that everyone who will be living with the animal comes to the Adoption Center to confirm that everyone agrees with the adoption.
Once at the Adoption Center, one of our volunteers will conduct a brief interview to learn about the family's experience with other animals, their home environment, and the living conditions for the new member, among other matters. In addition, the family will be informed about the terms of the Adoption Contract, and we will help them choose the perfect animal from all those at the shelter, with the goal of ensuring the best possible integration and a successful adoption.
The total time the process takes can vary depending on the available staff, the influx of potential adopters, and the duration of the interviews themselves.
If you already have a dog that will be living with the newly adopted animal, it is important that they also come to the Adoption Center. This allows us to check the compatibility of temperaments between both animals and will make their integration much easier.
Dogs
If you decide to adopt a dog or a puppy from ANAA, they will go home fully vaccinated, dewormed, with comprehensive blood test results, sterilized (spayed/neutered), microchipped, and with an international passport.
Cats
If you decide to adopt a cat, ANAA delivers them fully vaccinated, dewormed, tested for Feline Immunodeficiency (FIV) and Feline Leukemia (FeLV), sterilized (spayed/neutered), microchipped, and with an international passport.
Other Animals
If you adopt an exotic animal from ANAA, you will take them home fully vaccinated, dewormed, sterilized, microchipped, and with an international passport.
International Adoptions
Given that the adoption rate in Spain is not enough to offset the high abandonment rates, practically half of the animals sheltered by ANAA find a family beyond our borders.
Potentially Perfect Pets (PPP)
At ANAA, we do not believe in the current legal categorization of "PPP" (Potentially Dangerous Dogs), so we have redesigned it to reflect the true nature of these dogs: potentially perfect.
