Cat colonies management

If you have contacted ANAA because you are interested in us helping you correctly manage a cat colony, first of all, you have to take into account that it is both humanly and materially impossible for ANAA to take care of the entire management. It is essential that if you are truly interested in improving the quality of life of the cats in a colony, you get involved and take responsibility by managing it yourself or creating a working group.

Contrary to what many people think, the best solution does not lie in taking the cats from that colony somewhere else, but rather in staying where they are (as long as the area is safe) and managing that colony in order to provide it with the necessary stability and protection to guarantee the welfare of the animals. Only in this way can a respectful coexistence between felines and humans be achieved, in addition to many other environmental, community living, health advantages... among others.

ANAA can help you by informing you about the action protocol to follow to correctly manage a colony of unsociable cats.

Before starting, you must be sure that the place is suitable for the cats (that is, that they are not going to be run over or poisoned by people who disagree with having a feral colony near their home, work...). For this reason, it is essential to hold meetings with the neighbors in the area, if it is a communal area or neighborhood development, or with the workers and managers, if it is a private company. Only when everyone agrees and understands the benefits that cats bring (as an ecological rodent control and that with sterilization and health control there is no risk whatsoever) and they commit to maintaining it over time once started, should the project begin.

How to start

  1. Determine if those cats are abandoned or if they are unsociable cats.
  2. If they are not sociable, ask for help, advice, and information to carry out the Trap-Neuter-Return process.
  3. Find a veterinary clinic where they perform this type of operation at a low cost.
  4. Begin the action protocol and start trapping the cats.
  5. Return the animals to their environment and follow the guidelines of the TNR protocol. It is important not to leave the work half done and to maintain permanent control and monitoring of the colony, to guarantee the welfare of all its members.

New colonies

If you want to have a controlled colony of cats on your estate, villa, or company premises, do not hesitate to call us. In addition to enjoying the presence of these beautiful animals, you will have a group of expert "rodent hunters" offering you a fast and 100% effective service to keep rodents and pigeons at bay in an economical and ecological way.

We have highly qualified feline working groups that we present with a CV and proper documentation; they are unsociable cats that, as soon as we rescue them, undergo testing, sterilization, and vaccination. Health-controlled animals that do not reproduce uncontrollably. In exchange for an outdoor home with some type of shelter (we could provide the sheltering structures), someone to feed them, and someone to keep an eye on them, you will have a top-class "work crew".

That said, it is necessary for the chosen location to be outdoors, safe, far from roads or neighbors who might feel bothered, and away from areas with many dogs or any type of danger. To get in touch with us and receive more information, write to our email: anaa@anaaweb.org
