Asociación Nacional Amigos de los Animales (ANAA) is a non-profit organization founded in Madrid (Spain) in 1992 in response to the high number of abandoned and neglected pets in our country, where animal welfare issues are so often overlooked by the Administration, that is using euthanasia as the only means to manage pet overpopulation, instead of striving for a more humane and effective solution.

ANAA is legally incorporated and properly registered in:

  • Registro Nacional de Asociaciones del Ministerio del Interior nº 112.523.
  • Registro Provincial de Asociaciones de la Delegación del Gobierno nº 12.653.
  • Registro de Asociaciones de la Comunidad de Madrid nº 27.976.
  • Título de Entidad Colaboradora de la Comunidad de Madrid, nº CM-004.

ANAA is member of Consejo de Protección y Bienestar Animal de la Comunidad de Madrid, an animal welfare advisory council, composed of representatives of Consejería de Medio Ambiente, Federación de Municipios, SEPRONA, Real Sociedad Canina, animal welfare organizations and vererinary associations AMVAC, AVEPA and Colegio de Veterinarios.

ANAA is an integral part of the Coordinadora Estatal de Protección Animal – CEPA (www.proteccionanimal.org), where we work cooperatively to file lawsuits, drive legislative proposals and campaigns to raise awareness.
